The district serves 1,163 students with 80 combined classroom teachers on the Primary, Elementary, Junior High and High School Campuses. The George West Independent School District's goal is to enable students to successfully become tomorrow's leaders by giving them the knowledge, skills and work habits necessary to make reasoned decisions in the ever-changing future.

Coastal Bend College. A two-year community college serving South Texas with campuses and centers in Alice, Beeville, Kingsville and Pleasanton with 2,500 credit students each semester, and 8,000

Live Oak County Library - George West. The newly remodeled Live Oak County Library located in George West contains books, periodicals, magazines, and videos and DVDs for all ages and interests. Many of the newest titles can be found here or loaned an intralibrary network. Vistors to the library also enjoy high speed Internet access from state-of-the art computer center.
